How to photograph children

If you are a parent, you probably want to know how to take great pictures of your kids! Here are some tips! Get down to their level. Photo by James Jordan You need to try kneeling or even laying on the floor to photograph toddlers. You can maybe get a few cute perspective shots by photographing them from above but, in general, the best shots happen at eye level. Think about location! Photo by followtheseinstructions Try shooting at home… but also take the kids to the zoo, photograph them engaging with animals. Take them to the park and photograph your kids on the swings. How about at the beach? Or in a field? Look for details. Photo by Pranav This is an especially good tip for photographing babies. Look at the details like fingers and toes. Photograph close ups of their hair. Those details will fill you with memories in years to come. Get natural laughs Photo by tommywong Kids are taught from a young age to put on their “photo smile” when a camera is near. You want to break this mould. One way to do this is ask them to pull a silly face, take a couple of shots of the silly face, while you laugh at it (and maybe pull a face right back!). Then, when they inevitably burst into giggles… you photograph the images you really wanted all...

The best compact camera right now

Here’s a few of the best compact digital cameras on the market now. Grab one of these cameras, take it on holiday, take it to the park, take it to your kid’s birthday. These are versatile cameras, ready for all kinds of situations and small and light enough to carry everywhere. Sony Cyber-shot HX60V The detail from this camera is excellent, you will get sharper details from the Sony G 30x Optimal Zoom lens. It has super fast image processing and a huge 20megapixel sensor. You can connect to WiFi and NFC to share your pictures easily and use apps to enhance your photos and the experience. In your hand, the camera is nice and solid, with a functional design and the buttons are easy to use. The zoom lens is huge when extended, to give that 30x optical zoom, but when it’s turned off, the camera is nice and small. You can’t go wrong with this camera! Find out more >> Canon Powershot S120 The major advantage of this camera, in my opinion, is that the lens is super fast and bright – at f/1.8. That means you can shoot in lower light conditions without a loss of quality due to high iso and graininess. It’s also incredibly slim and light, which makes fitting it into a pocket nice and easy. It has some innovative features such as Star Mode, which lets you expose for up to an hour and a half, to take in an awesome nightsky – and there is even a live preview of the image so you can choose when to stop the exposure. The image quality in general is very high, meaning you can crop your images and print them at large sizes. Find out more...
